Volunteer Tracking Form
Century Skating Club: Information on Sectionals Volunteer Cheque and Volunteer Time Requirement for CSC Private Session skaters.
Why is there a volunteer requirement this season for Private Session Skaters? Why do I need to submit a Volunteer Cheque?
This year Century Skating Club is co-hosting the 2012 Skate Canada Manitoba Sectional Championship to be held November 4th and 5th 2011 at the Dakota Community Centre, with Simulations to be held Saturday, September 17, 2011. We are quite excited by the honour of co-hosting such a prestigious event. However, to make a competition of this magnitude a success will require the support of membership.
Club volunteers will be greatly needed in various positions prior to and during the competition. In our experience, most of our family members enjoy the time they spend volunteering with CSC; however some would not perform any volunteer activity if not encouraged financially. Therefore, in order to have sufficient volunteer participation for Sectionals/Simulations, Century Skating Club has decided to implement a volunteer cheque/volunteer time requirement for all CSC Private Session skaters.
How much will my Volunteer Cheque be? What is my Volunteer Time requirement?
Every Private Session home club member registered with Century Skating Club will be required to submit a volunteer cheque upon registration. This cheque, separate from regular registration, will be held in trust until February 1st, 2012. If you fulfill your volunteer time requirement as indicated below, your cheque will be returned. If your volunteer requirement has not been met than Century Skating Club will cash your Volunteer Cheque which has been held in trust.
The volunteer cheque and volunteer time requirement have been set as follows:
Test Stream skater: A Test Stream skater is a CSC skater who has passed at least one test at the Preliminary level as of August 31/2011. Volunteer cheque requirement is $100, due upon registration. Your volunteer requirement will be ten hours contributed towards Simulations/Sectionals.
Non-Test Stream skater: A non-test stream skater is a CSC skater who has not passed any tests at the Preliminary level as of August 31/2011. Volunteer cheque requirement is $50, due upon registration. Your volunteer requirement will be five hours contributed towards Simulations/Sectionals.
What can I do to fulfill my Volunteer Time requirement?
There will be many opportunities to contribute your required volunteer hours in support of Simulations/Sectionals. Volunteer opportunities will be available on-site during Simulations/Sectionals as well as off-site and behind the scene. You may wish to volunteer all your required hours on-site. You may wish to meet your volunteer requirement strictly through donations. Maybe, you wish to work behind the scenes, assembling goodie bags, making souvenir mementos. Or, you may wish to combine volunteer time on-site with donations required by the competition. Your club will work with you to make your volunteer experience a positive one. Please note there is a limited number of donations required. Selection of volunteer opportunities will be on a first-come first served basis.
What kind of jobs will there be on-site? Off-site?
Examples of Jobs:
Large jobs which automatically qualify for 10 hours - Competition Chair, Competition Committee Chair, Competition Committee member
On-Site Jobs for both Simulations/Sectionals: Have a 1-1 ratio (i.e. 1 hour of work = 1 hour claimed on tracking form).
Set-up/Take down, Decor, Dressing Room Captains, Ice Captains, Music/Registration desk help, Admissions counter and souvenir sales, Runner, Hospitality - (officials, volunteers, special guests),Transportation, Silent Auction table, Medals/Podium assistance. Description of jobs to follow.
Off-Site Jobs for both Simulations/Sectionals: Have a 1-1 ratio (i.e. 1 hour of work = 1 hour claimed on tracking form).
Examples of Jobs:assembling skater's participation bags, assembling gift baskets, collecting donations etc...
What if I can't volunteer much time on-site? Is there another way to help?
In recognition that some member families may not be able to contribute much time on-site, we have come up with a list of donations required by the competition which will be given a time credit value. Donations will have a 1-1 ratio ($10 value of item donated= 1 hour claimed on tracking form) Donations will be required in the areas of: Hospitality,Office Supplies, Silent Auction, Skaters' Participation Bags, Decor, Officials' Gift Baskets. A more specific list will follow.
Can I help with Sponsorships instead?
Most certainly. A competition of this magnitude requires both community and corporate support. If you know of a business which may wish to sponsor the 2012 Skate Canada Manitoba Sectional Championships, please speak to Rowan or to one of your other CSC board members in order to receive a Sponsorship package. Any confirmed sponsorship you acquire will be given a time credit value, with a 1-1 ratio (1 hour per $10 value of Sponsorship dollars raised in support of the competition= 1 hour claimed on tracking form)
Volunteer Tracking Form? What is it and how will it work?
Each Private Session member should obtain a Volunteer Tracking Form upon registration. This easy form will be your way of keeping a confirmed record of your credited volunteer time. A list of volunteer opportunities for Simulations/Sectionals, as well as sign-up sheets will be available at in-person registration. Please indicate your area(s) of interest. A CSC competition committee member will help coordinate your efforts. As tasks are completed, a member of the Competition's Committee or CSC board member will sign your time sheet. Please remember, it is Membership's responsibility to ensure that volunteer hours are recorded and given proper credit. Once you have completed your volunteer time requirement, simply turn in your tracking form to the Music Room or to any CSC Board Member. Your information will be forwarded to CSC's Treasurer, who will record/credit your hours worked.
I'm not a Private Session member, but am interested in volunteering. Can I?
Absolutely!!!! Please contact Century Skating Club, via email if you are not a Private Session skater but are interested in volunteering. Someone from the club will be happy to speak with you and provide information on how you can help. Additionally, you can touch base with any CSC board member at the arena. They'll be happy to provide you with information.
Our thanks! Century Skating Club appreciates Membership's understanding in regards to the implementation of the Volunteer Cheque and Volunteer Time requirement for Private Session skaters. We take pride in our membership families. Together, we continue to build positive sport experiences for all skaters.
Please remember, we DO NOT want your money, we NEED your volunteer time!!!
